Xiami Music, which is owned by Alibaba, will stop their musical streaming service today (February 5th).
As a result of Xiami’s closure, the deliveries from now on will only be feeding content to AliGenie. AliGenie is Alibaba’s Artificial Intelligence personal assistant currently used on their smart speaker called Tmall Genie, who can play licensed ad-free music in the background. This is why you will find that the channel will be renamed on the platform, and in case you were wondering, there would be no need to update any of Xiami’s content; it already exists on AliGenie.
AliGenie (or AliGenie Voice) is a China-based open-platform intelligent personal assistant launched and developed by Alibaba Group, currently used in the Tmall Genie smart speaker.
AliGenie is capable of smart home control, music playback, voice shopping, taking notes and more. AliGenie also features voice recognition, voiceprint recognition, semantic understanding and speech synthesis.
Most importantly, AliGenie offers licensed ad-free music via the Tmall Genie smart speaker.
Mainland China (i.e. China excluding Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau).
This channel used to be named Xiami. The content previously delivered to Xiami will be available on AliGenie with no further action needed.
